Varför en simhall?

En simhall är en unik idrottsanläggning. Det finns få, om ens några, andra idrottsanläggningar som samlar och attraherar så många olika grupper. Unga och gamla, flickor och pojkar, kvinnor och män, elitidrottare och motionärer och från alla bakgrunder och socialgrupper.

Friskvård

Betydelsen av friskvård ökar för alla åldrar. Framförallt är det viktigt att öka idrottslig aktivitet för de grupper som idag är underrepresenterade samt att ge möjlighet till aktivitet som är anpassad efter individens förutsättningar.

Simning, bad och träning i vatten är eftertraktat i alla åldrar. Inga andra kommunala fritidsanläggning ligger lika nära om hjärtat om man ser till alla åldrar samt både kvinnor och män.

Motions-, tävlings- och elitidrott samsas

Unik är också kopplingen mellan motionärer, de som simtränar regelbundet och elitidrottare. Alla samsas i samma anläggning och det är helt naturligt att världsmästare tränar på banor intill den tillfälliga motionären.

Simkunnighet

Simkunnigheten i Sverige har minskat. Färre barn lär sig simma. Efter att ha haft en simkunnighet på nära 90% i början av 80-talet är vi idag på vissa platser i landet nere på 55% simkunnighet. Simundervisningen är ett krav i skolans läroplan men för att kunna förverkliga målen behövs nya simanläggningar.

Sjätteklassarna på Bleketskolan ser ut att bli bönhörda. Nu ska en ny simhall utredas.
